Summary:
BeBold Recovery is a leading outpatient treatment center in Virginia offering PHP, IOP, and OP services to individuals recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges. We are seeking a Compliance Officer to lead our efforts in maintaining full regulatory compliance, ethical standards, and program quality. This role is essential to protecting the integrity of our services and ensuring clients receive care in a safe, accountable, and professionally operated environment.

As the Admissions Coordinator, you are the first connection our clients have to hope and healing. You’ll serve as a steady guide for individuals and families, helping them navigate admissions with compassion, clarity, and purpose. This is more than a front desk job—it’s a frontline mission to make every client feel like they are our only client.
The Peer/Clinical Case Manager will combine the lived experience of recovery with hands-on case management to help clients navigate their recovery journey. You’ll support clients in both clinical coordination and real-world life needs — from transportation and housing to emotional guidance and crisis support.
Job Description:
The Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of organizational compliance with DBHDS, CARF, Medicaid, and state regulatory standards. This includes managing policies, conducting internal audits, leading trainings, and serving as a go-to resource for staff on all compliance-related matters. You’ll work closely with clinical and administrative leaders to uphold ethical care delivery and maintain licensure and accreditation standards across all programs.
Key Responsibilities:

🛡️ Regulatory Oversight:

  • Ensure compliance with DBHDS, CARF, Medicaid, HIPAA, and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Monitor updates to state and federal laws and communicate changes to leadership and staff


📘 Policy & Procedure Management:

  • Create and regularly update policies and procedures in alignment with best practices and regulatory standards
  • Enforce policies through clear communication and corrective follow-up when needed


📋 Internal Audits & Risk Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular audits of clinical, billing, and operational systems
  • Identify gaps, recommend improvements, and track corrective actions to resolution


📢 Training & Education:

  • Provide new hire and ongoing compliance training for staff
  • Promote a culture of compliance through team communication and accountability


🧾 Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear, organized records of compliance reviews, audits, incident investigations, and training
  • Report compliance performance and risks to leadership on a regular basis


🤝 Staff Support & Collaboration:

  • Act as an internal consultant on compliance issues
  • Partner with clinical and administrative teams to resolve concerns and improve operations

Qualifications:
Experience/Education icon
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of sustained recovery
  • Preferred: Experience in a treatment or outpatient setting
  • 2+ years of outreach, community relations, or marketing experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or human services
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in admissions, case coordination, or behavioral health
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and insurance verification processes preferred
  • At least 3+ years of experience working in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting
  • Proven track record in regulatory compliance, quality assurance, or auditing
  • Familiarity with Virginia DBHDS, CARF, Medicaid, and HIPAA standards

  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS – Virginia)
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to commute or relocate reliably to Norfolk, VA
  • Background check and drug screening required upon hiring
License Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health, Public Health, Compliance, or related field
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar credential is a plus
